Enhance Your Inner Power with Tiger’s Eye
Tiger’s Eye is a gemstone that is usually golden to red-brown, and exhibits chatoyancy. Chatoyancy is exhibited by bands of reflective light, and the chatoyancy in Tiger’s Eye is caused by constant cracking and sealing of Quartz and Crocidolite. The common belief was that the Crocidolite was replaced by Quartz, as in pseudomorphous replacement by silica of fibrous Crocidolite (blue Asbestos). However, a more recent study was done that determined it was more likely that the crack-seal method over thousands of years was more likely – therefore the Crocidolite is what causes the stone to be reflective and shiny. The blue Crocidolite turned orange and yellow in Tiger’s Eye because of rusting iron over time.
Because of the Crocidolite fibers, it is advised not to work with raw Tiger’s Eye. If one does use Tiger’s Eye as a stone or wears one in jewelry, it is important to keep it well kept and not let it break or crack, as to not expose the fibers into the air. The danger comes with processing and working the gem. It is generally considered safe to wear in polished form, as fibers are unlikely to be released into the air. However, it is still recommended NOT to use this gem in gem elixirs.
Tiger’s Eye is a common gemstone used in jewelry and crystal healing. It has been believed that Tiger’s Eye can provide protection, and can enhance integrity, power, emotional strength, confidence, and willpower – all associated with the solar plexus chakra. It is an excellent gem to use while traveling in a travel protection mojo bag, or while beginning a business, or starting a new personal venture with family or friends.
Tiger’s Eye is related to Hawk’s Eye (blue Tiger’s Eye), and Dragon’s Eye (red Tiger’s Eye).
